Church of God in Qatar – An Overview
The Bible speaks of a church that has been given the resurrected Christ in all His glory, power and majesty. In Ephesians, St Paul says:
“God raised Christ from the deadand set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might and dominion … and every name that is named … and hath put all things under His feet and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church (ch. 1:19–22).”
It pleased God to establish such a church in Doha and when we think of the great privilege granted to us to be its members, we cannot but ceaselessly thank God for His goodness and faithfulness towards us.
From four brothers – VK John, PM Chacko, George Thomas and K Abraham – who came together for spiritual fellowship in a room in Doha on January 18, 1974, the church has grown to the present
level in 52 years , where more than 600 believers worship the Lord in truth and spirit.
The history of the Church of God in Qatar is interspersed with tear – soaked prayers and shouts of joy, one of utter helplessness and exultations of triumph. It is as the Psalmist said: “Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning” (Ps 30:5)
The church always emerged victorious though she “had to go through fire and through water”. As of now we can boldly say “God has brought us out into a wealthy place”
